Update! 6/1/10 This necklace has been safely delivered to 
for her first place win in the #ArtisanCraft contest. I am very pleased to be able to give this to her.This necklace is a simple fun design that I made for the upcoming
group contest as a prize. I don’t know what place it will go to or any other detail, but I though it would be fun to donate a prize.The cabochon is a “shimmerstone” made by ~Bright-Circle and reminds me of the stone Labradorite. It has different colors of blue and green depending on the light and direction of reflection. I am very impressed with the color although it may be hard to depict in the photos.
Otherwise…the cab has been netted around with varying size seed beads. The piece has been embroidered onto starch felt, which is then backed by an imitation leather cloth. I used a few czech fire polished glass beads. The necklace clasp is a copper toggle that has a bit of a bamboo look to it.
With this design I was trying to limit the use of color so that the cabochon would draw the most attention. So with my bead choices I focused on different bead finished like matte, clear, frosted, and AB iridescent. I am very happy with how it came out and hope that whoever wins it will be happy to (I am a little nervous about this)!

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactI like the simplicity of this necklace. It reminds me of one of the pieces of jewelry that is handy to have in the Jewelry box. Blue goes with almost anything!! When you want to dress up your outfit that says I'm playful this blue necklace is expressive. I believe a darker bead around the simmering center would have been a good contrast, but the white makes it more versatile. The netted technique can be tricky to properly size the beads to make the netting affect and to make the center bead pop or appear nestled. Smaller beads around the larger beads outside of the center distracts the eye, but overall this is an attractive necklace.
