Hidden Beauty of the Swamp...4

7/7/10 Major Update...Overhaul... I made some changes to this necklace so I'm updating some of the pictures to reflect these changes. Hidden Beauty of the Swamp is an OOAK necklace. This piece was completely without a plan and seemed to grow as it went along. It reminds me of the swamps that a frog would find a wonderful home in. In particular I kept finding myself thinking of the cabochon as being the looking glass from a lost fairy tale.

Materials:
This piece incorporates a beautiful hand crafted Pietersite cabochon that was made by an artist from my local area. It is very beautiful with different “layers” that glow in the sun. Other major elements include; seed beads of varying sizes, Czech fire polished glass beads, and a wonderful silver hand made clasp created by ~Bright-Circle.

Techniques:
The beading techniques used in this piece include; bead embroidery, flat peyote stitch, and stringing. The piece has been embroidered onto starch felt, which is then backed by an imitation leather cloth.
