Dark Matter...Details

Dark Matter is an OOAK necklace. For this piece I really wanted to create a pattern and design that truly highlighted the Orthoceras Squid Fossil. The spiral strand laying behind the pendant gave an interesting feel of a mix of the ancient (fossil) and the modern or almost sci-fi (DNA strand) look.

Materials:
This piece incorporates a genuine Orthoceras Squid Fossil from Morocco. Other major elements include; seed beads of varying sizes, various sized Czech fire polished glass beads, dyed pearls, bugle beads, and a wonderful silver claps made by ~Bright-Circle

Techniques:
The beading techniques used in this piece include; bead embroidery, flat peyote stitch, Russian spiral, and stringing. The pendant portion has been made by using bead embroidery onto starched felt, which is then backed by an imitation leather cloth.
